I miss this place. I miss LiveJournal. I miss my adolescence. I hate being an adult.

Mobile Internet

I really want an internet tablet. Yeah, it'd be nice to have an iPhone so that I can have internet anywhere, but I couldn't afford the monthly service, let alone, the phone itself. Besides, I can't bring myself to buy something that's made by Apple.

Now, I know what you all are thinking. OMG, another Apple hater. That's not what it's about though. I have a lot of respect for Apple and their products, but they're too locked down. I like Freedom. I like knowing that I can do whatever the heck I want with that $200 device that I just bought and not just what Apple wants me to do. I don't want to have to hack it either.

So you're probably thinking that I'm going to say that I want the T-Mobile (HTC) G1 or the Palm Pre, but no. The problem with all of these internet phones is that I can't afford the monthly internet plan on them.

No, what I really want is the Nokia N810. It's not a phone, it's an internet tablet. Sure, okay, I won't be able to get internet everywhere, but I can take the internet I want with me. I'm kind of looking at this as an open alternative to the iPod Touch. I can save my stuff on there (videos, music, netcasts, books, etc.) be able to put applications on there, and all around replace my antiquated PDA.

Also, the thing I really like about the N810 is that it's OS (Maemo) is a Debian based OS. It's not a mobile Linux platform... it just is Linux. Which means that I will probably be able to get a lot of the software I already run in Ubuntu to run on this. I fully expect that the device (which uses an ARM processor) might break a lot of programs, and a lot of programs might break it (it is limited on resources, after all) but my options are still wide open. I might have to recompile a few things or find lighter alternatives, but I have options.

This little thing is my dream PDA, pretty much. I want one really bad.

Testing, testing... Does this thing still work?

So... Hi! ^_^ It's been a long time since I've utilized this medium. I don't honestly know what to think about it anymore. Here I am though. Writing...

This is kind of awkward.

I'm back in school again. I'm going to Valencia Community College now... West Campus. I'm majoring in Computer Engineering Technology and I'm loving it so far. This is definitely my type of stuff. Networks, servers, assembling computers, maintaining computers, fixing computers... yeah I've already been doing that kind of stuff for a while. Well, okay. I haven't been able to successfully implement a server, but not for lack of skill. Mainly because I can't afford to buy a half-way decent computer to dedicate as a server, so I have relied on machines people were throwing away. Either way, this is definitely a career I want to pursue.

Let's see. What else is going on?

Still working at SeaWorld doing photos.

John and I are still happily living together.

I finally got Sailormoon Season 2 uncut after all of these years of wanting it. I'm not sure if I said this already. I got it on sale at FYE.

Alright, well I don't really know what else I have to say. I'm going to go now. later.

Writer's Block: Spirits

Do you believe in ghosts? Have you ever encountered one?
Do I believe in ghost?  A year ago, I probably would have said no.  I would have said no, but in reality I really did believe.  Now?  Not really.  I guess that's just a side-effect of becoming an adult.  You become skeptical and distrusting.  I don't believe anymore.

Way to keep my mind off things!

Holy Crabs! I might actually learn something today. Eh... who am I kidding. I'm just doing a research paper for class. Who, if anyone, has learned anything from copying and pasting writing a research paper? Either way, the idea of it all has me all excited and giddy, like an eleven year old girl at a Hannah Montana concert (I might even be a rock star).

Regardless of the sarcastic undertones, I really am excited to be doing this. I haven't done a research paper in who-knows-how-long! Besides, doing this work keeps my mind off the impending, inevitable fight of doom my boyfriend and I have coming; the twelve-hundred dollars I found out I owe DeVry; sending my cat to kitty prison (a very nice, humane kitty prison); and the world ending in 2012! So, off to the library I go... my laptop is coming with me as well.

There are some days when I want to do everything that I've been putting off because I'm never in the mood to do it. Unfortunately that mood only hits me when I'm too tired to do any of it anyway.

I feel like watching something intelligent. On TV. On a Saturday Night.

Alright, alright. I'll go to bed. x_x

Okay... so I finally posted the photos of my pool being obliterated! If you wanna take a look, just go ahead and click this link (http://crasher.livejournal.com/418005.html). It only took me like four months to do it!

Big surprise... Omar's sick again.

This cold just kicked my ass. I even had the bloody nose to prove it. Holy hell, this is like the Jet Li of Bacteria--special effects and all! I don't know what's worst, the fact that I just missed two days of work or the fact that I've seen six episodes of Hannah Montana over the past two days. Sweet nibblets! I need to get better.

Cats & Dolphins

You know, I find it interesting how work is teaching me more and more about my cat and being a pet owner. I guess it's just an unexpected side effect of working with animals and animal trainers all day. In the dolphin interactions, they often speak about how they train the dolphins so you pick up a lot of things from that but nothing really puts it all together like watching them in action. Just seeing how they handle the dolphins on a day to day basis teaches you a lot. Then you have days like today where they're actively training really difficult behaviors.

To my surprise, they have a dolphin named Roxy in the pool I work in. I had never seen her since she stopped doing interactions long before I started working there. Well, now, they're trying to bring her back into the routine of doing daily interactions with strangers and just watching them train her... well, I have a lot of respect for the trainers. It also helped me figure out how I'm going to deal with Dusty, my cat. It's going to take a lot of time and patience, but it will be worth it.

Back to Oakridge

Well, I did it. And it was relatively painless and swift. I withdrew from DeVry and decided that I'm going back to Mid Florida Tech. Going there, for me, is free. The amount that the government was giving me for my other schools is more than sufficient for my classes at Mid Florida Tech. So what am I going to study? I'm going to study commercial photography. Sure, I already have a job in photography, but I want to get better. The goal is to be able to do freelance work on the side. Doing stuff like weddings can earn a lot of money and I'll still be able to earn a steady income working at Discovery Cove full-time (or even part-time).
